Skyloft @ Crossgates Mall

The 2019 Amazing Race to Recovery was a success. Thank you to Crossgates Mall, Lucky Strike, Second Chance Opportunities, all 117 participants, 39 volunteers, 14 vendors, 13 stores, all sponsors, and 4 speakers. We raised awareness of the addiction crisis, showed support for people in recovery, 32 of which participated in the race, and raised over $10,800 for Second Chance Opportunities. We have added new stores and new challenges and expect the 2020 event to be even bigger and more fun.

The Colonie-Guiderland Rotary Club ( is looking for your help in fighting the current addiction and opioid crisis in the Capital District. We are planning a fund raising event, to promote awareness of the issue and to raise funds to support Second Chance Opportunities, Inc. and their community recovery center in Albany.

Funds raised from this event will be used to support programs at the  Community Recovery Center, a safe and centralized location in the heart of Albany where people with an addiction, their families and loved ones can come to get support, direction and guidance while they are dealing with substance abuse disorders.

A space where people in recovery can come and put the pieces of their life back together by; gaining employment, housing and life skills, being part of the recovery community, and learning to have fun and enjoy themselves without the use of substances, which greatly reduces the risk of relapse.

The event will be modeled after the popular CBS show The Amazing Race, with detours, roadblocks, pit stops, etc. Your team will earn points for completing tasks throughout the mall and some tasks may be judged on time. * But, this is not a foot race and no running in the mall is allowed.

Some ways individuals/businesses/groups can help:

Purchase an Express Pass

Teams may purchase 1 Express pass per team. This Express pass allows your team to skip one Challenge and receive the full points for that challenge. Each Express Pass is $20.00


Purchase a Buffet Lunch at Skyloft Only $10.

A buffet lunch will be available starting at 12:45 pm at Skyloft. Racers purchasing the lunch will be issued a wrist band that will be included in your team’s registration packet. See the event website for lunch details. If you plan on purchasing the lunch, please reserve your spot and wrist band now to save time during registration and insure that we have a good count for food. Lunch must be booked and paid for by the end of the day Thursday the 23rd. Price is $10 for the first 100 people to purchase lunch and $13 for anyone else. So book early.
